Does Untethering Lead to Anxiety?

Less overhead = less anxiety about supporting myself.

P. asked: Does untethering ever lead to anxiety and fear of being unable to support yourself?

Less overhead = less anxiety about supporting myself.

I'm wandering in Mexico right now, and I'm experiencing the advantages of living in uncertainty (with less padding) in an amplified way. I'm not paying big bills in the states while I'm traveling (no permanent address, no large unpaid bills, no car or insurance, etc). The conversion rate between USD and Mexican Pesos? Favorable.

Living this way doesn't eliminate uncertainty -- but I don't want to eliminate all uncertainty from my life. Uncertainty feels uncomfortable, but leads to resilience over time.

Sometimes I don't know where I'll be sleeping the next night. Sometimes the water goes out for an entire day, and I can't take a shower. This is living in uncertainty, for sure. There's less padding in my life.

Padding costs money. Untethering? It frees up my money to experience the world.
