Upgrading Digital Selves

We have a chance here to harness technology to improve ourselves.

I'm finding that it's increasingly important as time goes on (with exponential growth and all) to think about how I'm upgrading my digital self, and how those upgrades influence my physical self.

I've changed, haven't I? I'm in the process of updating the mental model, of myself.

Well, it's also important to note that I didn't just change. The tools did too. I took the photo on the left with a camera 10x the size of the camera that took the photo at right. The technology got better, so the photo got better.

But also notice my health in the photo, observe the upgrade in two years time. This has everything to do with the technology that I'm using now. Two years ago I was eating bacon egg and cheeses for breakfast, now I'm blending Vega together with green vegetables (spinach, kale) for breakfast every morning. This health change (one of many) is reconstructing the fundamental building blocks of my body. I am what I eat.

We have a chance here to harness technology to improve ourselves.

Not only the perception of ourselves across space/time, but also how we're perceived in the real world. The work we do on ourselves in the dream world that is the Internet directly reflects the work we do on ourselves in the real world.

So, I untether from the technologies that created the images, but also the images created by the technologies.

I'm here now, oddly enough, because of what I left behind.
