How Do You Do What You Do?

If I can describe what I do in one sentence, and everyone gets it, then I assume what I'm doing isn't very valuable.

There are two questions I get asked:

"What do you do?" And "How do you do what you do?"

If I can describe what I do in one sentence, and everyone gets it, then I assume what I'm doing isn't very valuable.

If I have to switch to the second question, then I know I'm doing something valuable.

If I could never describe 'how I do what I do', even in the length of a book? Then I'm probably doing something too abstract or ephemeral for anyone to need what I'm doing.

I wrote about what I do earlier.

Here's examples of Things I used to do.

2005-2009 What do you do? "I'm a photographer." How do you do what you do? "I buy expensive equipment, and charge people to take higher-res photos than they can get from their camera phones."

2007-2009 What do you do? "I'm a photo editor." How do you do what you do? "I read stories from professional writers before they go live on the Net, and talk to photo agencies and photographers in order to find the best photos for the stories."

2000-2006 What do you do? "I'm a dancer." How do you do what you do? "I train every day to do superhuman things with my body. Sometimes I hurt myself trying. I do my best to take care of my body during these times."
