Live Realigns on the Web

I view my website as a living growing entity, not unlike myself.

I view my website is a living growing entity, not unlike myself.

This means, I'm not afraid to pull out a pillar every once in awhile, and see if the whole thing comes crashing down.

Almost daily, I'll get into the code of my website. I know every line of CSS that I've coded into the site: because I coded it myself.

There's something to being able to break my site myself that I really enjoy. I can't get mad or blame anyone else when I frak up the whole thing by moving the entire sidebar into the header (which you may have noticed me doing recently. Yes, it looked terrible.)

We're in the middle of a transition on the web. HTML5 and CSS3 now have widespread support from most modern browsers. This means that the web is in the midst of an evolutionary leap, as designers learn CSS3 and start implementing.

This means that I'm learning Responsive Web Design.

This means that I'm learning CSS3.

This means that I'm live realigning my site constantly. Yes: sometimes it'll be ugly. Yes: sometimes I'll fail.

But the benefit of making mistakes, in real time, in front of you, is that my blog is growing with me, with the writing, with the story arch that I've been narrating from my hands, through the keyboard, into your minds.

A big inspiration for my dive into live realigning my own site has come from watching G.B. live realign her site over the past 8 months. G.B. is offering to teach you a little of what she's learned from 8 months of living and growing with her website.
