I've been noticing two types of writers lately.
The first writer has theories about everything. They're making up their own philosophy about how the world works, and then telling everyone about it.
The second writer has conducted experiments and can tell from experience.
Obviously, with the second, theories came first -- they just didn't tell anyone about them until after they experimented.
Recently, I've been asking myself: am I reading someone who's spinning theories or am I reading someone who's telling from experience?
Then I ask myself: which kind of work lands best for me? Which type of writing feels more authentic and grounded in reality? Which one of these writers would I pay to read?
And finally I ask myself the hardest question: which one of these writers do I want to be?
